For any of you francophones, if you have not read any of S. Corina Bille's writing, I highly recommend it.

I just wrote a paper on "Fille ou Fougère?" one of her short stories, but that is not even her most magical. Admittedly, she is rather difficult to find (she was Swiss and not widely known in the US), even in France. But her books can be found at the library if you look hard enough.

She is sort of... unearthly, folksy, macabre (at times) and has the most beautiful way with words... Like one of the more ethereal movements from The Planets (Holst). About Death, Life, Nature, what's Real and what's not, the Grotesque right next to the Innocent...

I wish I could put the way I feel from her stories onto canvas. Some of her stories remind me of Camus' "La Femme Adultère" which is just incredibly sensual (in all its definitions) and quiet, but really touches me profoundly for a reason I can't really grasp. She almost writes in images, without actually describing anything in the usual way!

I wish I had such a rich imagination.
